Manfred 'Fred' Curt Hecht

March 29, 1966 — March 14, 2012

Manfred ""Fred"" Curt Hecht was born on the 29th March 1966 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina; he died in Aurora, Colorado on the 14th of March 2012, two weeks shy of his 46th birthday. Fred was the son of Colonel Manfred Hermann Hecht USA, M.D., of Greifswald, Germany (and Berlin, Manila, and New York City) and Virginia Marie Daugherty Hecht of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania. Like most American military families the Hechts moved frequently. Fred was born at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, but grew up on Oahu; in Alexandria, Virginia; Landstuhl, West Germany; West Point, New York, and in the Panama Canal Zone. Fred came to Colorado in 1981 when his Father retired from the Army and moved to Denver to continue his orthopedic surgery practice. Fred spent his high school years at Smoky Hill High School, and for most of the next thirty years he considered Colorado his home. As a young boy Fred joined the Boy Scouts ultimately achieving the level of Eagle Scout. He was a high school and college football player. Fred graduated from Smoky Hill High School in 1984 and went to McPherson College in Kansas on a football scholarship and then to Southern Illinois University for a year. Fred found his career niche as a salesman: as he had superlative people and communication skills. Following his injury Fred started his own company, Wheel-Aggressive, for retailing hand-bike accessories. Manfred Curt Hecht is survived by his mother Virginia, his three sisters, Karen (and Gary Rogan), Monica (and David Sawyer), and Susan Hecht, and by two nieces, Jessica (and Adam Alexander) and Abigail Sawyer, and one nephew, James Sawyer. A Visitation for Fred will begin at 9:30am on Friday, March 23, 2012 followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am, both at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue (at Parker Rd), Aurora, Colorado. Please share memories and leave condolences for Fred's family by signing the guestbook.
