Manuel ""Manny"" Romero, 85, of Denver, Colorado, passed peacefully on May 29, 2015 surrounded by his entire family. Manuel was born on March 31, 1930, in Brodhead, Colorado, and was preceded in death by his farther Joseph and mother Elizabeth. He married Ernestine Garduno in 1952, and were together for 62 years. He served in the United States Army 1948 â 1951 as a General Clerk and was honorably discharged in 1951. After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado in 1957 with a degree in Accounting, he and his family moved to Denver, Colorado. This is where he began his professional career. First working as an accountant with Walt Flanagan & Company 1957 â 1962. In 1962, he went to work for the Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Agent retiring in 1989. During his retirement years, he and his wife traveled to Europe twice along with numerous trips to California, and other parts of the U.S. Manuel also was an avid reader who had a special interest in the Civil War and Abraham Lincoln. Along with his readings, Manuel enjoyed riding his bike, his numerous conversations with all his friends at Winsor Gardens, and his 26 years of retirement with his beloved partner Ernestine and his dog Rocky. Manuel is survived by his wife, Ernestine; his son Rich and his wife Josey of Southern California; daughter Lori and husband Bob Marquez of Aurora, Colorado; and son, James of Thornton, Colorado. His grandchildren include: Ricky, Jennifer Janelle, Rena, Gabby and Alana. There are also four great-grandchildren. Grand pets include: Little Dude, Lola, Gizmo, Max and Kate. Viewing will be at 5:00 to 6:30 PM with Rosary following at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, June 3rd at Horan & McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. The funeral mass will be held at the same location on Thursday, June 4th at 11:00 AM, with interment following at 2:00 PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Reception information will follow with time and location. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Spina Bifida Association in the name of Manuel F. Romero.
