Marci Ann Grip, 46, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her home February 9, 2021, following a courageous 6 ½ year journey with breast cancer. She is an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, auntie and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Marci was born December 11, 1974 in her family home in Sandy, Utah to Julia VaLeen Bell and Walter James Moore, Jr.
Whether you knew Marci for days or for decades, she was an immediate and loyal friend. She always relished precious time with family and friends – her ‘bunch of crazies’ she’d call them. Marci became a master of managing home improvement projects including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, tile work and interior design – usually relegating her husband to hold the ladder or flashlight while she did the work. She always loved the challenge of tinkering and trying to figure things out. Friendly and outgoing, she lived her life for all to see and was always willing to share her experience.
If you went to a concert with Marci, you better be ready to dance. She loved live music and danced whether or not she liked the bands. She loved to travel (Hawaii was a favorite) -- however a planner she was not. She would rather sit on a beach somewhere warm, and let others figure out the details.
Married to Corey Grip for time and all eternity in the Manti, Utah Temple August 15, 2003 Marci was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed serving the church in various capacities and really enjoyed teaching the children and youth.
Due to her strong faith, Marci’s devotion to her children was of paramount importance. She always put the needs of her kids above her own, even when undergoing health challenges. Some of Marci’s last discussions were about how proud she was of her kids and their willingness to be active and involved during their mom’s decline in health. There were challenging times, but the way in which the kids conducted themselves was sublime and powerful – like their momma.
Marci and her family will be forever grateful for the compassionate medical care received throughout her cancer journey – too many surgeons, specialists, PAs, nurses and staff to mention who comforted and treated her professionally in times of need.
Marci is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Corey; four amazing children, Adelynn “Addie” (15), Maddox “Max” (13), Hudson (11) and Norah (9); her mother, Julia Moore; siblings, Laura Koester (Wade), Kristy Crosland (Mike), Paula Thrall (Mark), Amy Moore-Christensen (Daniel), John Moore (Cristina Gonzales), Sara Stumm (Robert), Cami Thornock, Katy Moore, Devin Moore (Shea) and sister by marriage Rhonda Wood (Jim). Preceded in death by her father Walter Moore Jr. and brother Richard Moore. Marci is auntie to 29 nieces and nephews and 15 grand nieces and nephews.
A public viewing will be held Monday, February 15th from 10:00 to 12:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13370 Lowell Blvd., Broomfield, CO 80020.
Due to Covid restrictions and limited capacity, a service will be held at the same location at 1:00pm for family and invited guests. The 1:00pm service will be live streamed by following this link: https://zoom.us/j/95169238688
Marci will be interred February 22, 2021 in the Tonaquint Cemetery in St. George, Utah.
Due to Marci’s concern for the struggles of others with similar health challenges, in lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations in Marci’s honor to the Red Lipstick Fund, a Boulder, CO – based, non-profit philanthropic organization established to help lessen the financial burdens of others touched by cancer: https://www.bch.org/Foundation/Why-Give/Patient-Care/Red-Lipstick-Fund-Form.aspx
