Marcia Jean Hahn (Westphal) passed peacefully at the amazing age of 104 years on November 6, 2024 in Denver, Colorado. Marcia was born on February 1, 1920 to William and Ruth (Wagner) Westphal in Seward, Nebraska.
She lived a life marked by devotion to her family and her Lutheran church. Marcia was an excellent homemaker, seamstress, avid reader and student of history. She never met anyone she couldn’t talk to.
After graduating high school, she left rural Nebraska for the bright lights of Denver and Los Angeles. One fateful night she went to the Brown Derby in LA and there met her future husband, John Hahn. They were married on October 14, 1943 at Chanute Field, Illinois. Their subsequent life included many moves around the country, of which Denver was always her favorite place.
A woman of great resilience, she faced the loss of 3 children and a spouse with strength and faith. She is preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 62 remarkable years, John on April 2, 2015. She is also preceded in death by children, Kathleen, Cynthia, David and grandson, Michael Oppenheimer.
Marcia is survived by son and caregiver extraordinaire, Steven of Denver and daughter Barbara (Bill) Oppenheimer of Tucson. Also surviving Marcia are nieces Virginia Brown, Kathleen Archer, Carol Heinzch and Robin Rein. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, 11453 Wesley Ave., Aurora on Saturday, December 7 at 10:30am. Marcia will be interred next to her beloved husband at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
