Marcia Kroonenberg

Marcia Kroonenberg, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 6th.  Carl and Sherri Kroonenberg were by her side and were given the blessing of ‘handing her off’ from their hands to God’s hands.  She was born in Topeka, Kansas on June 12, 1932, and eventually made Colorado her home.   She was an accomplished opera singer, performing at Central City Opera House and continued to use her beautiful soprano voice and musical talents in the church.  She served 41 years as a choir director, dedicating her time to joyful worship, and serving God’s people.  Marcia was also known for her beauty (inside and out) and was Miss Denver in 1952.

She was most known for her love of life and her love for family and friends!  She was silly, always making others laugh, and had an infectious smile that would warm your heart.   She is preceded in death by her husband, Clary, and son Keith.  Marcia is survived by her son, Carl Kroonenberg and daughter, Cindy Fleming.  She had seven wonderful grandchildren and also six great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 11th at 2:30pm at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, 80227.  A viewing will be held from 1:30-2:30pm and a reception will follow the memorial service from 3:30-5:00pm at the same location.  Marcia requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Foundation Fighting Blindness at https://donate.fightingblindness.org/webdonation .  Please include a note about the honoree and Marcia Kroonenberg.

We will miss her dearly and await the day we are reunited in God’s kingdom.
