Marcus Wilson Shorkey

Marcus Wilson Shorkey, 37, of Denver, Colorado, our beloved husband, father, son and friend, passed away May 17, 2018. He was born November 22, 1980 in Flint, Michigan to Jill Welch and Mark Shorkey. Marcus went to Denver public schools and graduated in Lapeer, Michigan. He worked at Coit Cleaning and Restoration for many years. Marcus loved the outdoors and especially hiking. He loved finding a bargain or a great deal on anything and when he did, it would make his day! Marcus’ best day was when he met Christina, who later became his wife. He became a convert of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and with his growing faith and testimony of the gospel, he was able to receive the Priesthood authority in the Church. He taught the children in primary and he enjoyed the fellowship with the members of the Church. Marcus loved his family and proudly shared with everyone that ‘FAMILIES ARE FOREVER!’ Marcus is survived by his wife, Christina Shorkey; their infant son, Marcus Shorkey II; mother, Jill Welch; father, Mark Shorkey; step-mother, Ruth; brother, Richard; grandparents, George, Janet, Jenevive, Tony and Barbara; in-laws, Radicka and Chandra; niece, Destiny and many cousins. Marcus is loved and will be missed by many! A Funeral Service for Marcus will be held on Friday, May 25th, at 11:00 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9227 W. Dartmouth Place, Lakewood, CO 80227. Marcus’ wish was to be cremated and to have his ashes scattered in the beautiful mountains of Colorado.
