Margaret Driggs was born in Kansas City, Kansas in 1909. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 1930 with a degree in Journalism and began her career as a newspaper reporter for the Johnson County Herald and Kansas City Star. She had three children during her first marriage and resumed her career in the 1940s as Director of Public Relations for the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Kansas City, where she was also active in several historical organizations. In 1948, she married Howard R. Driggs, a retired New York University professor, and moved to New York, where she lived until 1974. Dr. Driggs was also the President of the American Pioneer Trails Association and an author of more than 50 books on Western American history and English Education. After their marriage, Margaret assisted him in the editing of his books until his death in 1963. She was also responsible for the public relations and publications of the American Pioneer Trails Association and was an officer of several womenâs organizations in New York. Margaret later worked at Hofstra College and several private schools until her retirement in 1974. She moved to New Jersey, became active in the Princeton Historical Society and served as Chair of the Docents at Morven, the New Jersey Governorâs Mansion. Prior to moving to Denver in 1997, Margaret lived in Maryland for four years. She became active in the Colorado Historical Society and was a volunteer at the Colorado Executive Residence, the Colorado Governorâs mansion, for five years. She is survived by two sons, John C. Quarrier, Philip H. Quarrier, a daughter, Camille Q. Bradford, five grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Gerald R. Sherratt Library, for the Howard R.
