Margaret Ann 'Margie' Garza, 81, of Maricopa, died 17 August 2021 at Banner Desert Medical
Center, Mesa, Ariz.
Margie was born in Birmingham, Ala. on 8 December 1939. Her parents were Homer D.
and Vera (Salter) Ellis. Later she took the surname of her step-father, Frank Lindsay.
She grew up in Florida and Alabama, graduating from Shades Valley High School in
Homewood, Alabama.
She served a short tour in the U.S. Navy and two years in the U.S. Air Force, where she was
a communication specialist. She was honorably discharged from both branches.
She then became a loving, devoted Air Force wife and mother; raising her children with wit,
sass, warmth and love in Texas, Japan, New Mexico, Hawaii and Colorado. During this time
she worked as a manager in several food service stores/restaurants and served as a
Post Commander and District Chaplain for the American Legion. In her spare time, she
obtained her private pilot's license. She developed a talent for oil painting and became very
proficient. She gifted many of her family with excellent works of art. She loved the mountains
road trips, Christmas and dogs, especially "Lady", her Bassett Hound.
In 2013, she moved to Maricopa, Arizona to be near family. There she enjoyed TV westerns,
casinos and bingo. But mostly she enjoyed and lived for her family.
She is survived by a loving husband of 56 years, Francisco; two daughters, Tina (Michael) Garcia
and Natalie (Bob Roby) Garza; and two sons, Chris (Ann) Garza and Frank (Jennifer) Garza; eight
grand-children and ten great-grand-children.
Burial with military honors in Fort Logan National Cemetery, near Denver Colorado, 8 September.
