Please pray for the family of the Rev. Margaret Rush Hankins, who passed away April 12 at the age of 78 following heart surgery in March. Margaret was a retired elder in the Rocky Mountain Conference, and began her service in the late 1970s pastoring Lyons, Emmanuel and Hope United Methodist churches in Colorado. She also was the superintendent for the Mile High Pikes Peak District from 1990 to 1995. A service celebrating Margaret's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. June 29 at Hope United Methodist Church, 5101 S. Dayton St., Greenwood Village, CO 80111. This date was selected to accommodate the travel of her sons Jason and Joel and their families, who reside in Asia and were here with her two weeks ago. Margaret's husband, Jim, said that it was a lengthy and valiant battle with heart and pulmonary failure, but ""she was pain free and comfortable to the end, thanks to the palliative care provided by her medical team."" He continued: ""She remained lucid, and her warm and beautiful smile we all knew so well never dimmed. Thank you all for your generous outpouring of support, encouragement, hope and love that sustained us through these many weeks of hospitalization."" Condolences and expressions of care can be sent to their home address: 29 Blue Heron Drive, Greenwood Village, CO 80121.
