Margaret D. Jacobson

Margaret Ellen Detweiler Jacobson (""Det"") was born August 12, 1924 in Twin Falls, Idaho, the daughter of Theresa and Claude Detweiler.

She graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor's degree in Business as a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

She met her future husband, Dr. Olof H. Jacobson, in Boulder. While she worked as a Personnel Administrator at the Gates Rubber Company in Denver, they married in 1948, and started a family. After living in Kansas City, MO while Dr. Jacobson attended the University of Missouri Dental School, the couple moved back to Denver. Margaret worked as Public Relations Director for the Colorado Dental Association and Metro Denver Dental Society, then started her career in real estate in 1978 at Mary Rae & Associates. Her career as a Realtor spanned some 30 years, working for Moore & Company and The Devonshire Company/Coldwell Banker. A multi-year member of the Million Dollar Roundtable, she retired from real estate at the age of 85, but she claimed her favorite ""job"" was being a mother.

Margaret loved gardening, reading, writing, and music. She was the consummate generous hostess, gathering extended friends and family together for large, boisterous parties.

Margaret was always the first to send a note of congratulations or condolence to her wide circle of friends, and she made time for frequent meals with each of her grandchildren to learn about their lives and interests. She never hesitated to help her ""older"" friends by driving them to doctors' appointments. Margaret was a member of Les Hiboux, the Junior League, and supported philanthropic organizations such as Achievement Rewards for College Scientists.

She is survived by her six children: Lisa Jacobson, Christine Wilson, Karen Jacobson (Kirk Tresemer), Olie Jacobson (Joanne), Theresa Jacobson, and Meg Steitz (Bill), as well as seven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, two nephews, and a niece.

She passed away at the age of 95 in Denver, and is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert Detweiler, and her husband.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am on February 24, 2020 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 2626 E. 7^th Avenue Parkway.

Private interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
