Margaret Meusey passed away peacefully on March 25th, in Littleton, CO, surrounded by her family.
Margaret was born & raised in Mount Vernon, IA. After attending Cornell College and the University of Iowa, she married & moved to Omaha in 1965, where she started a family and called home for nearly 60 years.
Her primary role and purpose was as a caring, very organized mom to her 5 busy children. Her abilities as a mother were only eclipsed when she became a Grandma for the first time in 1991. She found great joy and fulfillment as a loving & involved “Grammy”, a title she would proudly earn 9 times in 21 years. She was often the first visitor after the birth of a grandchild and remained their biggest cheerleader for all their individual activities and accomplishments. While her health had declined, meeting her first great granddaughter, Ava Christel, was a joyous milestone late in her life.
Margaret was also the primary caregiver to her mom & dad, both who lived until their late 90’s. She was a friendly presence in the retirement communities she resided, making lasting and meaningful friendships with residents and staff alike. Even in the 4 months that she lived in Colorado, her sense of humor and smile made her a favorite among her many caregivers.
In addition to her many caregiving roles, Margaret worked in a variety of capacities, including time as a Montessori teacher, which combined two of her life long passions -- reading and working with children. She retired from the Omaha law firm, Abrahams, Kaslow & Cassman in 2012 after more than 20 years in a variety of administrative roles.
She is survived by her children: Katherine Meusey (Richard Baguley), Boston; Mike Meusey (Kristin), St Louis; Jennifer Brosseau (John), Denver; Matt Meusey (Faith), Missoula, MT. She was a beloved Grammy to 9 grandchildren: Tyler Petty, Denver; Sara Christel (Alec), Omaha; Max, Meredith & Alex Meusey, St Louis; Ella & Avery Brosseau, Denver; Joseph & Beau Meusey, Missoula and Great granddaughter, Ava Christel (Omaha).
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; Al & Ann Bair; daughters Molly Petty & Mary Ann Meusey (infant); and sister, Jan Robu.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Our special thank you goes to her care team from Brighton Hospice & Gardens of Columbine staff.
The family suggests a donation to the Omaha Public Library Foundation in her honor. www.omahalibraryfoundation.org
