Margaret L. Myers

December 16, 1953 — October 26, 2005

Margaret Myers passed away at her home on October 26th from Rabdomyosarcoma cancer. She went by Peg as a result of her parents love for the song 'Peg of My Heart.' Many family and friends knew her affectionately as Peggy. She was born Margaret L. Wachtel in Freeport, Illinois on December 16, 1953 to Dr. Philip and Jean Wachtel. Her mother was a social worker and her father was the only pediatrician in the town of 20, 000. Her father died of cancer in May of this year. She graduated from the University of Colorado in May 1976 with a BS in business. She attended Colorado out of her love for the mountains and skiing. Also her older sister was attending CU at the time. She met her husband Darcy during her senior year and they were married in Freeport, Illinois on February 18, 1978. She has three children; Stephanie (24) an MBA student at NYU, Warren (22) living in Silverthorne until he enters CU Law School next fall, and Sean (19) an engineering student at CU. Peg worked in the corporate world as an insurance underwriter, but always had a love of medicine. She attended Front Range Community College and became a respiratory therapist. Although she loved the practice, she put aside her career to stay with the children for many years until she worked part time at The Right Start, a baby store. She had a deep love for her family, babies, and puppies. She also was interested in helping those who could not help themselves. As a result she volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Denver for man years and during the last several years at the Women's Crisis Center in Castle Rock. Peg enjoyed skiing, gardening, the outdoors, and water activities. Peg is survived by her husband, three children, her mother Jean Wachtel in Freeport; her sister Pat King, a teacher in Indianapolis, IN; her brother Leon Wachtel, a dentist in Prescott, AR
