Margaret Ann Scanlan passed away peacefully on November 7, 2021. She was born in Brush, Colorado on October 13, 1925 before her family soon moved to Hastings, Nebraska where her father, Floyd Hansen, started work at the First National Bank of Hastings as a cashier and eventually became the President of the Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors. She was one of 6 children born to Floyd and Irma Hansen including her older brother, Donald, younger brother, Robert and her 3 younger sisters, Betty, and twins, Alice and Elsie. She attended Hastings College before graduating from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in English.
She met and married Jack Scanlan and they had their first child, Mary Jill Scanlan before moving to Denver, Colorado. Once there, they had two more children, their son John Mark Scanlan and another daughter, Julie Ann Scanlan.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, traveling with her husband and children, spending time with her family and friends and was particularly proud of her membership in PEO. She volunteered at Lutheran Hospital and supported many charitable organizations.
Preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Irma Hansen; older brother, Donald Hansen; younger brother, Robert Hansen; younger sisters, Betty Hansen (Maroney) and Alice Hansen (Marvel),; husband of 60 years, Jack Scanlan; daughter Mary Jill Scanlan (Nichols). Survived by her son, Mark Scanlan; daughter, Julie Scanlan; grandchildren, Brian Scanlan, Jenna Scanlan, Melissa Parker (Buck), Sean Chadwick and Amy Flynn; great-grandchildren Amber, Alyson, Gregory, Katrina, Vanessa, Race, Evelyn, Jersi and Joslyn; great-great-grandchildren Jordan, Logan, Alex, Brianna. and Parker; numerous other family members.
