~ Margaret Kathryn Smith ~ First Day on Earth . . . September 4, 1931 First Day in Heaven . . . September 6, 2010 Peggy Smith, 79, passed away September 6, 2010 in Colorado Springs, Colorad. Peggy was preceded in death by her devoted husband Jack of 55 years. ""Peggy"" Peggy was born in Sioux City, Iowa. Mom met Dad in 1949 while working for Dad's father as a secretary. They were married in 1951. Mom and Dad moved to Colorado in 1956. Mom poured her life into her family and this was her passion for many years. Her daily routine was filled with keeping up with 6 kids, cooking, cleaning, or many hours in her laundry room. Mom loved doing laundry (She was said to have the Whitest Whites). Mom enjoyed gardening and said that was her escape….it relaxed her. Cooking was not her favorite but she was a good cook…. known best for her potato salad, fried chicken, roast beef and meat loaf (with her special topping). Mom held the prize for her cake frostings (Sour cream & angel food). When her youngest, Nancy, began school Mom started working at Ranum High School as a secretary and from there moved to District 50 Administration Building. Whether it was her quality of work or her gentle caring spirit mom was invaluable to all who worked with her. Mom's retirement years brought her back to her passion and love….her kids. Whether it was babysitting for her grandchildren or still being ""Mom"", this was truly mom's gift and brought her the most joy. Mom and Dad did enjoy some traveling in their retirement years. Among their travels were: Hawaii and Europe (where Kathy and John were living at the time). Closer to home Mom and Dad traveled back home to their roots in Iowa. After Dad died in 2006, Mom moved to Colorado Springs where Kathy and Jackie live. Mom, your gentle, caring, loving, spirit will live on in the many hearts of the lives you have touched.
