Margaret "Peggy" Van Buren

December 15, 1950 — October 28, 2024

Littleton

Margaret Rae Harvey Van Buren, 73, of Littleton, CO passed away on October 28, 2024. Born on December 15, 1950 in Denver CO, she was the eldest daughter of Shirley (Ryan) Harvey and James Clement Harvey, Sr.

Margaret- more often known as Peggy- was a caring & devoted wife to Bill Van Buren for 21 years. He was the love of her life and they spent many years enjoying the sun and sand together while living in Ft. Myers, FL.

Peggy is survived by her son Christopher James (Mersadies) Harvey, and her step-children Holly (Keith) Underwood, Celene Van Buren, Gar (Michelle) Van Buren, and Katie (Dzifa)

Glymin, her siblings Jerry (Jodie) Harvey, Patti (Ron) Carnago, and Paula (Lynn) Harvey Brewick as well as many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Jim & Shirley, her younger brother, Jim Jr., and her grandson, Calvin.

Peggy was an amazingly strong and supportive mother to her son, and like a second mother to many others. She was a loving and dedicated daughter and sister, always supportive to everyone, not only of her family but many others that she came into contact with. She was also friendly and approachable and truly loved children, and doted on her beloved grandchildren. Always available when someone needed assistance, she was known for putting others’ needs ahead of her own. Her son describes her as “a beacon of light in dark times”.

Peggy worked for Kaiser Permanente for over 30 years as a Cardiac Technician. She loved her work and helping others. She was an avid and enthusiastic sports fan, and loved reading and knitting blankets for family members. She lived for family gatherings and will be lovingly remembered for (among many others things) the spaghetti dinners cooked for the family on the legendary, traditional Harvey Family Christmas Eve celebrations.

She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that contributions be made in her & her husband’s name to The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club.
