Margaret (Betsy) Anderson-Flaten age 84, died at The Medical Center of Aurora on March 20. The cause of death was complications related to cancer.

She was born Margaret Louise Fagan on February 23, 1937 in Altoona, PA to Gladys and Charles Fagan. Betsy’s early childhood was spent in Altoona. In 1949 the family moved to Colorado Springs and then to Cripple Creek. In 1952 Betsy married Charles Anderson in Raton, NM. The couple worked in the mining and trucking industry on Colorado’s west slope where they raised four children, Charlotte, Lyle, Gary, and John. In 1976 they moved to the Arvada area where Betsy worked at FMC in Broomfield, CO for many years as a production supervisor. Betsy was widowed in 1978 when Chuck died of complications from a kidney transplant. In 1986 Betsy married Mylo (Pete) Flaten. The couple moved to Osnabrock, North Dakota in 1993 when Betsy retired and remained there until 2003 when they moved to Lewellen, NE. Betsy was widowed again in 2004 when Pete died of lung cancer. In 2009 Betsy moved to Heather Gardens in Aurora where she remained until her death.

Betsy loved socializing with her neighbors at Heather Gardens and was active in the knitting club. Betsy loved traveling with trips to Washington D.C. with her son Gary and three trips to Cairo, Egypt to visit her daughter, Charlotte.

Betsy is survived by her daughter Charlotte of Cairo, Egypt, her son Gary (Kellie) of Aurora, her sister Susan Metzger in Euphrates, WA, her sister Ruth Franks in Farmington, NM, her sister Betty Grell in Arvada and her brother Patrick in Denver. Betsy leaves nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by two husbands Charles and Pete, by five brothers, John, Ken, Charles, Tom, and Ron, and two sons, John and Lyle.

Celebration of life services will be determined as COVID restrictions allow. Internment will be at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO.
