Margaret was one of 12 children born to Jacob and Clara Roskopf in Hartington, Nebraska where she graduated from Holy Trinity/Cedar Catholic High School in 1941. In 1945, she enlisted in the Army and was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. as a stenographer. Starting on Sept. 26th, 1946, she served in Munich Germany where she enrolled in a Medical and Surgical Technician Course. As a Medical Tech, she worked at the 98th General Hospital until her return to the US on July 10th, 1948, after which she received an Honorable Discharge with many honors and decorations. After the Army, she attended Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado for a brief time before transferring to the San Francisco College for Women. She graduated with a B.A. on Sept. 1st, 1951. During this time, she met Vernon George Braun and soon married in Monterey, California. They moved to Michigan but soon realized they wanted to live in Denver, where they settled in 1953. Margaret then gave birth to her only child Paul Gerard Braun on Nov. 16th, 1957. From 1964 to her retirement in 1988, she worked at the University Health Science Center in Denver for the Webb-Waring Lung Institute as head secretary and administrative assistant. She lived close to work and enjoyed walking to and from work every day. The family enjoyed hiking and cross-country skiing. In retirement, Peggy volunteered many years with the Denver Botanic Gardens and with her beloved Christ the King Church. Several years after Vernon’s passing in 1990, Peggy moved to The Gardens at Columbine where she spent her remaining years and made many new friends. She very much enjoyed the activities, outings, and care staff there.
