Margaret "Maggie" Knauf Searing Stanfill, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021, after an automobile accident in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Born the 6th of June 1940 in Frankfurt, Germany, to parents, Maria Henrichs Knauf Hamiter and Paul Knauf, as well as her stepfather, Ernest Hamiter of Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and older sister, Hilda K. Knauf Mason, as well as one nephew.
Maggie is survived by her dog, Blue; children, Bryan Searing and wife, Lorraine; daughter, Gina Searing Frye and husband, Dr. Lynn Frye; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy (Erin) Frye, Alyssa (Shane) Frye Wriston, Adrienne Searing, Conor (Lindsey) Searing, and Caroline Searing. She also has 5 great-grandchildren, and two nieces and two nephews.
Maggie immigrated from Germany as a child and was raised in Louisiana. She worked as a real estate agent, owned a retail shoe store, and then later in life graduated from nursing school and worked as a psychiatric nurse. She chose to live her retirement years in Manitou Springs, Colorado.
Maggie was a talented artist, seamstress, and basketball player. She loved traveling, sightseeing, the theater, Cajun cuisine, Mardi Gras, and the charm of Manitou Springs. She adored animals and people and would often make friends with everyone in the line at the grocery store. She connected with people through her compassion, personality, spunk, and great sense of humor.
A Zoom-based memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, March 28 at 10:00am MT. It was Maggie's wish to be cremated. A private service will be conducted at a later date for the spreading of her ashes.
