Margarita Cepeda

Margarita was a world traveler, a military wife, and a beloved mother and grandmother. Her favorite songs were ""The Days of Wine and Roses"" by Andy Williams, ""Coma Prima,"" by Mario Lanza, and ""Three Times a Lady"" by Lionel Richie. She loved reading the Holy Bible, traveling, sewing and gardening, and was a deeply devoted Catholic who was faithful to her church. In 1953, Margarita was a 16 year old student at San Jose High School in 1953. She met Jose (Joe) Dydasco Cepeda, a student at San Jose State College and a native of Guam, at a local weekly dance at the Rainbow Ballroom. In January 4, 1954, they married at San Jose, California for 53 years. In 1954, Margarita's husband joined the U.S. Army. During his tour of duty of 22 years, Maggie served as a military wife raising two sons, Joey born on July 1954 and Ray born on December 1960. She lived in El Paso, Texas, Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Ord, CA, Fort Mammoth, New Jersey, Pirmansens, Germany, Fort Carson, Colorado, Okinawa, and Red Stone U.S. Army Arsenal, Alabama. In 1975, Margarita moved to Guam after her husband's military retirement where she lived for 28 years. Maggie worked for the Government of Guam as an executive secretary for the Department of Safety. Additionally, she worked for the village of Dededo Mayor's Office, under then Mayor Jerry Rivera. In 1997, she retired from the Government of Guam after 20 years of service. In 2003, Margarita moved to Denver, Colorado, where she lived for eight years. She recently became a Grandma for the fourth time again with the birth of her newest grandchild, Aspyn in December 2010. She did voluntary work at Saint Pius X Catholic Church, in Aurora, Colorado as a religious teacher and administering to the sick and elderly. She will always be remembered and will be deeply missed.
