Marge Sellers 2024 & John Sellers 2017

Margery Jean Sellers, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully Friday May 3, 2024, with family at her side. She lived a very full 91 years. She was a proud yet humble woman and was the living embodiment of the goodness that lies within each of us.

Marge was born in Columbus, Nebraska, one of three children. Marge attended CU where she met her husband John Nelson Sellers. They married in 1955. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Medical Technology degree and went to work in the lab at Boulder Community Hospital. And as she liked to remind John, her earnings put him through his final 3 years at CU.

After John earned his Chemical Engineering degree, while in their late twenties they traveled across the US, started their family, and worked for several engineering firms before settling in Littleton Colorado (now Centennial) in 1966, where they raised and educated their three children, who subsequently gave them six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Marge was a homemaker and worked in the hematology lab at CU Medical Center and later at Bethesda Hospital. Like her mother and her sister, Marge advocated strongly for the advancement of women and was a long serving member of PEO. A woman of faith, Marge was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. She was the epitome of selflessness. It is because of mothers like Marge that children can love themselves, love others, and be responsible, charitable, and forgiving adults.

John was born in Hayden CO and spent his youth in Mt. Harris. John worked as a Chemical Engineer / Project Engineer & Manager for several engineering firms before settling in for a long career with Stearns-Rogers Engineering (now AECOMM). John was an avid outdoorsman and a strong supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s’ sports, interests and education. He loved camping, gardening, and fishing and was co-founder of Boy Scout troop 456 in Centennial CO, serving as the Scoutmaster for its first 4 years. John passed away in 2017 at the age of 84.

Marge and John had a wonderful 62 years together and now, seven years after john’s passing, they are together again. Marge and John will live on in our dreams, in our memories and in our actions as we try to live up to the example set by these two wonderful people.
