Margrit's family is sad to share with you that she left for her final walk-about hike on the morning of May 15th, 2016. She passed away peacefully in her home. Although she is gone, she will never be forgotten. Born in Switzerland on January 26th, 1924, she was named Alice Margrit Jaeggi. Even as a young girl, she knew that she was different from all the rest. She was born for a life of adventure and she was determined to ""see the world"" before eventually marrying the love of her life â Bruno Leutenegger. Bruno waited patiently for several years and finally convinced Margrit that they were well-suited for each other. He was right: they were Soul-Mates. Margrit and Bruno were married in New York on May 1st, 1950 and her next adventure began as they continued to travel and ""see the world"" together. The two traveled to places that inspired and intrigued (South America, Europe, Mexico, Canada, the United States and more). They also loved to entertain family and friends ⦠they created amazing memories together and made life-long friends along the way. As a business owner, avid hiker, wife and friend, Margrit lived her life by her own strong convictions. Her smile was quick and bright. Her eyes were sparkling blue. Her beauty was dazzling (inside and out). Her words were always weighted with the wisdom of one who was fair-minded and kind-hearted yet bold and unafraid. When good times came to her, she held to the values that others would compromise. When life presented challenges, as it always does, she met them with resilience, optimism and, of course, a glass of red wine. After a successful career in the Dental Lab Industry and the unfortunate early passing of Bruno on September 3rd, 1990, Margrit spent the remainder of her life in Denver, Colorado - the home that she loved and shared with Bruno - her true love. She continued to travel and entertain ⦠Margrit lived life to the fullest. Those that she is leaving behind will always remember her radiant beauty, her amazing smile, her sense of humor, her love for travel and adventure, her love for hiking and golf, her love for red wine, her love for animals, her honest and loyal friendship and her unconditional love for family and friends. Kelli Lanphere (who has been like Margrit's daughter for almost 30 years), Lisa Piper (who has been like Margrit's daughter-in-law for almost 5 years), Helene Jaeggi (her sister-in-law), Helene's Family (her nieces/grand nieces and nephews/grand nephews), Dora Schmidt (Bruno's niece), Paula Williams (her long-time family friend), her extended Swiss Family and her many, many Friends will miss her dearly. We are all truly blessed to have shared life's adventure with her. We must now look to the future, knowing that we will always carry Margrit's values and her adventurous spirit with us. It is up to each of us, to create our own life adventures and to make this world a better place as we journey forward on our own life paths. An informal luncheon celebrating Margrit's life will be held in Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday, June 4th from 11:00am - 2:00 pm. Please contact Kelli or Helene for more details.
