Marguerite Monahan McGovern was born September 7, 1925 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Francis and Martha (Ferrin) Monahan. She died October 12, 2008 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. McGovern and her brothers, Msgr. William J. Monahan, Frank Monahan, Jr., and Charles ""Joe"" Monahan. Marguerite is survived by her children: Nancee (Greg) Sprigg, Mary Ann McGovern (Peter Jensen), Elaine (Rick) Jones, and Tom (Tami) McGovern, Jr. Also survived by six grandchildren: Natalie and Nicholas Sprigg, Colleen and Erik Jones, and Thomas Joseph and Karen McGovern. Marguerite was born and raised in Denver and graduated from Cathedral High School. She was a longtime Pink Lady volunteer for St. Joseph Hospital, served on the Board of Denver Catholic Community Services and the Infant of Prague Nursery, and worked on several committees for Mile High United Way. An avid reader, she was a strong supporter of literacy in general and public libraries in particular. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, October 24, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 2250 S. Harrison St., Denver, followed by a reception in the Parish Center. Private interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
