Marian L. Shriner was born on March 24, 1932 in Hooper, Colorado to Hubert Kincaid and Nellie Martiny Kincaid. Upon graduation from high school she attended the Children's Hospital School of Nursing, briefly attended the Conservative Baptist Seminary and graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Science and a Master's Degree in Education. After nursing several years at Children's and through the polio epidemic of the fifties she decided to change careers. She taught in the Denver Public Schools for twenty years. She taught mostly mathematics and American History in the elementary schools. She married Larry Shriner on June 19, 1965. They have two daughters, Kirsten Jo (Mike) Kittrell and Nicole Ann (Jerry) Roark and one granddaughter Everlin Jo Roark. She loved to quilt and was an avid genealogist. She was a member of the National Education Association, the Denver Classroom Teachers Association, the Colorado Mountain Club, the Arapahoe Road Baptist Church, the Mount Rosa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Descendants of the Mayflower Society. She became ill in Salt Lake City while doing family research at the Mormon Family History Library. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones while under Hospice Care on June 13, 2006.
