Maribeth Liljestrom Hughart, of Commerce City, Colorado, died November 30, 2024 at the age of 72, of natural causes. She is survived by husband Robert J. Hughart (Jeff), brother George Andrew Liljestrom (Drew) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Her parents were George David Liljestrom, father and Mary Verna Hale Liljestrom, mother. Maribeth attended Denver Public Schools and graduated in 1970 from George Washington High School. In 1976 she graduated with a Master's degree from Regis College in education. She worked for most of her career with the state of Colorado where she had many positions, but concentrated her years prior to retirement in Human Resources.
Maribeth was plagued by heart and hearing problems her entire life but never let that stop her from working and enjoying a retirement full of travel with husband Jeff that would be the envy of most people. She and Jeff were 5-Star Mariners with Holland America Cruise Lines and visited the Mediterranean, Europe, the Baltics, Scandinavia, the British Isles, Iceland, Greenland, Canada, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Antarctica. When not traveling she enjoyed a life-long hobby of collecting stamps. She loved her dogs Hammer, who was her service dog for hearing impairment and, most recently, Coco, a miniature schnauzer. Maribeth was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday and she could prepare a feast as good as any chef.
She will be missed by many people, but especially her husband Jeff, dog Coco, sister-in-law Sally Hughart and husband Scott Kittelman and family of Boulder and Denver, brother-in-law Jim Hughart and wife Janet and family of Montgomery, Texas and Portland, OR. And Jeff's band members.
Rest in peace our dear Maribeth.
