Marie "Susie" Anne Buckley

Marie “Susie” Buckley, was born on July 28, 1941 in Alhambra, California to John and Jimmie Olhasso.  She was the second of four children and is survived by two of her three brothers, Pete (Ann) and Bill (Laura).  Her youngest brother, Tom, preceded her in death.

While attending Duchesne College, the California girl met the love of her life on a “beach” in Nebraska.  Although Jerry Buckley may not have had the best opening line, he won her heart and they celebrated their fifty-eighth anniversary last year.  Together, Jerry and Susie had two children, Michael (Kathryn) and Julie (Matt Groves).  Those who know Susie, know her happiest role was Moma to her six grandchildren: Colin, Shannon, Ryan, Patrick, Mac, and Maggie.  Moma was happiest when she was spending time with any one of them.

Susie knew how to show up in the world.  While she diverted attention from herself, she cherished planning special events for friends and family, spending time reading with her second and third grade students, and was the first to arrive with a hug, meal, or kind word when the chips were down.   Mostly, though, that paled in comparison to the limitless care and attention she had for Jerry.  The hole in his heart is vast and deep, but we take comfort knowing that they will be reunited in eternal life.
