Marie Thompson

Marie Thompson, 77, passed away unexpectedly November 20, 2020 at her home in Commerce City, CO. She is survived by her sister Diana Starling of Grand Junction and her three sons, Rich (Linda) of Commerce City, Tony (Tori) of Basalt, CO, and Jeff of Commerce City. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren Travis, Aaron, Brett, Alec, AJ, Cody, Dylan, and Lauren; four great grandchildren Tristan, Aubrey, Laela, and Westley. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; and parents, Harold and Leola Meek.

Marie was born in Denver, CO and graduated from North Denver High School. Marie and Richard were married young and moved to Arvada in the late 60’s to raise their three boys. She was truly a Colorado girl whose ancestors were early settlers of Colorado, residing in Globeville in the late 1800’s.

Marie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  As the grandkids will all attest, she was indeed the best grandmother to her beloved grandchildren.  Marie also had a special place in her heart for her dogs.  Marie had several careers in her life, ultimately retiring as a real estate professional.
