Marilyn Kuptz

May 14, 1937 — November 10, 2021

Centennial

Marilyn Monahan Kuptz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, in Centennial, Colorado surrounded by her family.

Marilyn was born May 14, 1937 in Chicago, IL.  She was the only child of Lester and Agnes Monahan.  She attended Mercy High School before earning a degree from Marquette University.  She met Hubert (Bert) Kuptz while attending Marquette and they married on August 16, 1958.  Marilyn and Bert had six children together and were married for 24 years before Bert passed away unexpectedly in 1983.

To know Marilyn was a gift; she was bright, caring, witty, and wise.  She had a deep faith and inspired many through her loyalty and grit.  She loved a good game of bridge, a long talk on the phone, happy hour, and most of all being together with family and friends.  She left a strong legacy of faith, family, and friends.  Marilyn went on to earn a master’s degree in Special Education 30-plus years after she graduated from Marquette.  She persevered through tough times and created so many memories for her family through annual reunions in Bass Lake, California; Traverse City, Michigan; Grand Lake, Colorado; and many other destinations.  She brought people together and never wanted to miss a celebration.

Marilyn is survived by her children Stephen (Cheri), Maureen (David), Michael (Erin), Colleen (Lyle), Kathleen (Scott), and Matthew (Jennifer).  She has an amazing legacy of 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Grandma “K” will be missed and never forgotten.  Her humor will carry on forever.

Colorado services will be held on Thursday, November 18 at 2:30pm at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church (8035 S. Quebec St., Centennial CO 80112). California services will be held in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA in mid-December.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 2100 S. Western Ave., San Pedro CA 90732. Little Sisters was very close to her heart and her favorite place to serve others.
