Marilyn Stuart Miner

January 25, 1920 — April 27, 2013

Marilyn Stuart Miner, 93, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013. Born in Pawnee, Oklahoma in 1920, Marilyn grew up in the Tulsa area, where she met Paul Lincoln Miner, whom she married in 1940. They moved to Chicago, when Paul joined the Navy during World War II. Upon his return from duty, the couple relocated to New York, where Marilyn spent much of her life, first living in Greenwich Village, where she and Paul ran the Provincetown Playhouse (which was founded by the playwright Eugene O'Neill), and, later, in New City, New York, where the Miners started a family. Marilyn worked for many years as an advertising copywriter. She was also a theater actress, she appeared in a few small movie roles, and she was a published short story author and journalist. In her later years, she lived in Brewster, New York, but she moved to Evergreen, Colorado in 2007 to be closer to her eldest son, Stuart Lincoln Miner of Denver, by whom she is survived along with her youngest son, Timothy Webb Miner of Sherborn, Massachusetts, along with five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A service for Marilyn will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11 at Jefferson Unitarian Church, 14350 W. 32nd Avenue, Golden, Colorado 80401. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy, www.nature.org. Please share your memories of Marilyn and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook below.
