Marilyn Jean Mingee, 90, passed away October 21, 2017 in Aurora, Colorado. She was born September 12, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois to Carl Gustav and Mabel Irene Meyer Schacht. Marilyn grew up in Rockford, attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, and graduated with a degree in Sociology. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Marilyn did not utilize her degree for very long before settling down, and becoming an amazing wife, mother and homemaker. She was loving, nurturing, giving, and selfless, among many other traits, and will be missed dearly. Marilynâs hobbies and interests included active memberships in church Womanâs Fellowship and PEO, golf, sewing, cooking, playing bridge, and being a grandmother ""Memaw"". Marilyn married James C. Mingee, July 2, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois. They moved regularly as James pursued a career in the oil business raising their family in multiple U.S. cities, Venezuela and Japan, and eventually settling in Greenwood Village, CO in 1975. They were members of First Plymouth Congregational Church and Cherry Creek Evangelical Presbyterian Church for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on May 10, 2016. Marilyn is survived by children, Thomas J. (Janet) Mingee, Sacramento CA; Jo Anne (Ron) Dahlin, Suwanee GA; and Michael W. (Bambie) Mingee, Centennial CO; brother Richard H. (Patti) Schacht, Oakton, VA ; five grandchildren: Matthew (Rachel) Dahlin, Stephen (Kate) Dahlin, Brett (April) Dahlin, Courtney Mingee; Marissa Mingee; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Andrewâs Village (in the Community Hall), 13801 E. Yale Ave., Aurora, CO 80014. Following the service, friends and family are invited to stay for a light reception. A graveside service for the family will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, Colorado. We suggest those desiring to give a memorial donation give to the charity of their choice in her honor.
