Marilyn was born on January 4, 1940 to John Stanton Jr. and Mildred (Perry) Stanton in Syracuse, New York. She grew up in the small communities west of Syracuse ... Fairmount, Solvay, Camillus.
Graduation was in 1957 from Camillus High School. She then entered Nursing School at the Community General Hospital of Syracuse. Upon completion she was employed in the labor & delivery section of the same hospital as a Registered Nurse.
She met her future husband, Trefor Roberts, on a blind date. At the time, he was enlisted in the Air Force and was stationed at Syracuse University. That worked out quite well, don’t you think?
They were married on February 23, 1963 in the West Genesee Methodist Church of Syracuse, and remained married for 57 years. During that time, Marilyn and her husband lived briefly in Berlin, Germany, in the Seattle, Washington area, and then to Westminster, Colorado where they remained for 49 years. During Marilyn’s time in Colorado she volunteered for the District 50 Rescue Unit, was involved in the Citizen’s Police Academy, and was a member of the Red Hat Society and the TOPS organization while she also raised her family.
She passed away at home, in her sleep, in the early morning of July 31, 2020. She is survived by their 2 children (Beth & Todd) and 2 grandchildren (Dylan & Tarah). Preceding her in death are both of her parents, 2 children (Elissa & John) and 1 grandchild (Cheyanne).
Memorial Service will be Thursday, August 20, 2020, 2:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton.
