Marilyn Young

March 30, 1943 — November 1, 2022

Marilyn Ruesch Young, age 79 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in Aurora, Colorado.  She was born on March 30, 1943 in New York to the late Robert Kenneth Ruesch, Sr. and Ruth Shattuck Ruesch.

Marilyn graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee where she received a B.A. in Elementary Education.  While at FSU Marilyn was part of the FSU Flying High Circus, performing on the trapeze.  She was an active member of Sigma Kappa Sorority at Florida State University and after college graduation Marilyn taught elementary education.  In 1967 Marilyn married T. Harris Young, they were married nearly 54 years, until Harris’ death in 2021.  Marilyn and Harris lived in Winter Park and Longwood Florida for over 30 years, moving to the Denver Colorado area in 2000 where she remained until her death.  Marilyn volunteered many years at the local hospitals close to Longwood and continued her volunteer service when locating to Colorado.  She was an active and dedicated volunteer for the past years at Centura Parker Adventist Hospital in Parker Colorado.  Marilyn enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing wordle on the internet.  She was always thinking of others by keeping up with family and friends through her thoughtful cards and calls.  Marilyn loved her family and her adorable three grandchildren that visited often and enjoyed spending time by playing board games and other activities.

Marilyn is survived by her son Benjamin Jay Young of Aurora, CO., daughter, Melinda (Mindy) Young of Colorado, grandchildren Autumn Young, Aurora CO, Savannah and Benjie Young, Longmont, CO., niece Svana (Swana) Ruesch and husband James Fraser, Arizona; nephew Zachariah Tolf and wife, Tracy, Orlando, Fl., niece Sigriour Bilddal Ruesch and husband Prostur Halldorsson, sister-in-law and husband, Gail Young and Tim Spier, Senoia, GA, sister-in-law, Joy Young and David Shirley, Newnan, GA , extended family with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.  Along with her parents and her beloved husband she is preceded in death by a great niece, Lovisa Tolf and great nephew, Britton Purvis.

A celebration of life will be held December 4, 2022 from 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm at the Heritage Eagle Bend Golf Club, 23155 E. Heritage Parkway, Aurora, CO. 80016 (heritageeaglebend.com)  Friends and Family are invited to come honor and celebrate the life of Marilyn Young.  Due to Covid, the family was unable to celebrate Harris Young’s life when he passed in early 2021, therefore this will be a tribute to both Marilyn and Harris.
