Marilyn Catherine Sandlian

Marilyn C. Sandlian (Robertson) was born November 7, 1931 in Hutchinson, Kansas. She grew up in Kansas and Colorado. Marilyn is survived by her sisters: Wilma Pirraglia, Luella Bryan and her brother, William Robertson, six children: Julie DeWald, Sherry Wilger, Dennis Sandlian, Kenneth Sandlian, Michael Sandlian and Pam Sandlian Smith, ten grandchildren: Josh Sandlian, Shawn Li, Megan Tews, Fletcher Graham, Devon, Kayla and Brynna Stoffel, Ellen and Beth Sandlian and Noah Wilger, and eleven great-grandchildren: Marcus, Mason and Emilia Sandlian, Owen, Madeline and Margot Li, Annalise and Lorelei Tews, Chandler and Liam Bruton, Jaxon and Wesley Tait and Juniper Stoffel-Bueno. 

 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank L. Sandlian in 2007. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, a lifetime member of the United States Air Force. This career brought travel and adventure to the family as they lived in Sioux City, Iowa, Florence, Colorado, Misawa, Japan, Clovis, New Mexico, and Novato, California. In 1969, the family moved to Denver, Colorado which continues to be home base for the family. The family enjoyed spending time together camping, going to the beach, and taking driving vacations with the children packed into the backseat of the car. 

 

Family was always at the center of Marilyn’s universe. She prided herself on hosting birthday and holiday gatherings filled with stories, laughter and wonderful cooking. She was a wonderful cook, and loved baking. Pies, cookies and confections were her specialties. She took great pride in taking care of her family, her home and gardening. 

 

Marilyn has been a member of the Northglenn United Methodist Church since 1970. She was a member of the Yellow Rose women’s group for over thirty years and enjoyed being part of the Yadah, Yadah Book Club

 

She is remembered with love by her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Northglenn United Methodist Church.
