Marilyn McAnally Stark, age 88, passed away in Highlands Ranch on August 3, 2024. Marilyn met her husband Charles at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, and they married in 1955. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in History from The University of Colorado and a Masters in Library Science from the University of Denver. Her career included positions as Research Librarian at Dames & Moore Consulting Engineers in Denver, Research Librarian and Associate Director of the Library at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden and Head of the Library at the United States Geological Survey in Lakewood. Marilyn was a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association.
Marilyn was a certified judge for the American Orchid Society, an avid quilter, and enjoyed hiking, camping, and cross-country skiing.
In May 2015, Marilyn and Charles moved to the Wind Crest Senior Living Complex in Highlands Ranch. Marilyn was involved in many of the activities at Wind Crest - she was the first resident co-editor of Wind Crest Gazette as well as serving on the welcome committee. She served two years as Chair of the Dining COTRAC and was serving on the General Services COTRAC. Her most satisfying effort, however, was the organization and setup of the Parry Landing Library. She had served as the Chair of the Parry Landing Library Committee since its inception.
She is survived by her husband Charles, their daughter Barbara Redder (Don) of Casper, Wyoming, their son Donald Stark (Laura) of Palo Alto, California, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Betsy Kunzer of Sierra Vista, Arizona, her brother Perry McAnally of Oklahoma City, and her sister-in-law Betty Nicol of Indianapolis.
Her family plans a private memorial at a later date.
