Mario Mejia-Navarro, 70, died peacefully at home in Westminster, Colorado on September 21 from complications of Parkinson’s. While Mario lived a life full of adventure, he bravely faced this debilitating disease for 15 years.
Mario was born on August 18, 1950 in Medellin, Colombia where he spent his childhood and early adult years. This is also where he met the love of his life, Marinelly Toro-Mejia. In Colombia, Mario was a Geologist for Ingeominas and Geologist Professor for Escuela de Ingeria de Antioquia, Universidad Nacional, and EAFIT.
Mario and Marinelly moved to Colorado in 1990 and never looked back. They loved travelling, hiking, and enjoying outdoor activities with family and their many close friends. Mario received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from Colorado State University’s Earth Resources in 1995 and had a career as an Environmental Geologist and Civil Engineer, retiring in 2013.
Mario is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marinelly; his children Natalia Mejia and Juan Camilo Mejia, and his brothers and sisters.
