Marjorie Allee

February 5, 1926 — December 15, 2021

Marjorie J. Allee, beloved Mother and “Yiayia” quietly and peacefully passed away on Wednesday, December 15th, 2021 at home with her loving children, Peter, Katie & Carrie by her side.  Born in Denver, February 5th, 1926 to James and Katherina Mauries, her parents who both migrated from Greece to the United States in the early 1900’s.  Margie grew up and worshipped devoutly in the Greek Orthodox faith.  It was an integral part of her life and she baptized and raised her three children in this devotion and love for her heritage and religion.  She played the organ and participated in the Greek Church choir for many years.  In her young adult life, she worked in an amazing role as an Aeronautical Draftsman for Jeppesen & Company creating maps and charts.  Margie’s husband Paul often called her by her Greek nickname “Smaro” and they were married on May 27th, 1956.  She joined him in living the military life (Navy and U.S. Air Force) for many years raising their family traveling the United States.   During her years on Air Force bases around the country, she was always a member of the Officers Wives Club, played in many golf tournaments winning several trophies and was often awarded the “Green Thumb” for sustaining a beautiful yard in front of her military homes.   Yiayia Margie lived every day in adoration and claimed all bragging rights to her three beautiful grandchildren, Christian, Melina and Marika.  She also lovingly admired and was so proud her two son-in-laws, Mike & Mike and daughter-in-law, Janet, as well as her children, Kelsy, Kade, Aubrey and Adam, and their five children, Yiayia’s great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul, brother, Dr. Christy Mauries, and sister, Agnes Hughes and she is survived by her younger brother, Thomas J. Mauries.
