Marjorie Jane McGregor

June 20, 1923 — January 12, 2007

Marjorie Jane McGregor, 83, veteran, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, died January 12, 2007, of natural causes in Lakewood, Colorado. She was born June 20, 1923, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marge was the second of nine children born to Jesse Evard and Pearl Snow Welch. The Welch family moved to the Los Angeles, California area in 1931 and Marge graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1941. She joined the Navy Waves from 1944-1946 during WWII. From 1951 to 1953 Marge served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in France, Switzerland and Belgium. In 1953 Marge married her college sweetheart, Jim, in the Salt Lake City, LDS Temple. They raised their three sons in California, then, moved to Loveland, Colorado until retirement - lately moving closer to family in the Denver area. Her hobbies included decorating cakes, sewing, singing, playing the organ, swimming and making scrapbooks. Marge is loved and will be missed by her two sons, Jim Y. (and his wife, Cindy) McGregor, of Highlands Ranch, CO; and Joel B. McGregor, of Denver, CO; a daughter-in-law, Kathy McGregor, of Utah; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Bonnie Waite, Kay Welch, Ted Welch, Bob Welch, and Jay Welch. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Y. McGregor; a son, Gerald Mark McGregor; and a sister and brothers, Mary Smith, Jerry Welch, and Bill Welch. A viewing will be held at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 5303 E. County Line Road, on Sunday, January 21, 2007, from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1939 E. Easter Avenue, in Littleton, on Monday, January 22, 2007, beginning at 10:00am. An additional viewing will be held at the Church from 9:00-9:30am. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd, Denver, on Monday, at 1:00pm. Please meet at Staging Area "A" by 12:50pm.
