Marjorie L. Zimmerman

October 5, 1922 — July 12, 2010

Marjorie L. Zimmerman was born on October 5, 1922, in Aurora, Kansas, to Felix and Clarene (Gagnon) Bechard. She passed away July 12, 2010, at the Broomfield Skilled Nursing Facility in Broomfield, Colorado, at the age of 87. Of French-Canadian descent, her parents were born and raised in Eastern Kansas. She grew up on farms between Grinnell and Grainfield, Kansas. Marge graduated from Grinnell High School in 1941. She was the second oldest of nine children and is survived by two brothers, Leon Bechard, Larry Bechard and his wife Irene, and two sisters, Maxine Zerr and her husband Leonard and Denore May. Marge met Ben Kreutzer during harvest, but waited for him to return from war to get married on September 12, 1944, in Grainfield, Kansas. Marjorie and Ben are survived by ten children, Carol, Janice, Esther and her husband Tony, Bendetta, Ben, Don and his wife Bonnie, Patty and her husband Gigi, Laveda and her husband Joe, Dennis and his wife Vicki, and Charisse. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In Colorado, Marge began her career at Saint Anthony Central. She started in laundry services, and moved on to food services, and the pediatrics and Ward Secretary in Surgery. She retired in 1985 after 25 years at Saint Anthony hospital. She married Wilfred Zimmerman on December 26, 1972, in Brighton, Colorado. They are survived by two of Wilfred's children, Harold and Sharon. Marge and Wilfred retired and moved to Eagle, Colorado, in 1984, where she and Wilfred enjoyed fishing, cross-country skiing, line dancing, polka, and bowling. When I have traveled my road to the end, why should we sit in a gloom filled room? Never cry for a soul set free. Just share a smile with me! In loving memory of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, Marjorie Zimmerman. A Memorial Service for Marjorie will be Thursday, July 15, 2010, 2:00PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton.
