Mark Anthony Cornejo, 54, passed away on March 24, 2025, in Westminster, Colorado. Born on August 13, 1970, in Daly City, California, Mark lived a life marked by dedication—to his family, his work, his country, and the many passions that brought him joy.
Mark proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, spending much of his service stationed in Kaneohe, Hawaii. During his time in the Marines, he forged lasting bonds with fellow servicemen and distinguished himself as a rifle expert. His commendations included the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, a Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, and a Letter of Appreciation—testaments to his commitment and excellence.
Following his military service, Mark built a successful career as a service writer in the automotive industry. Known for his ability to manage multiple customers with ease and professionalism, he was both courteous on the phone and a source of camaraderie among coworkers. He brought energy and warmth to every workplace he joined—including AutoNation, Tynan's Nissan, and most recently Pellman's Automotive—where he was often accompanied by his loyal sidekick Chachi, his bearded pup.
Outside of work and service, Mark embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved golfing with his sons Mitchell and Blake, coaching youth flag football teams, tossing the football around just for fun, skiing down Colorado slopes, hiking scenic trails, and mountain biking through rugged terrain. A devoted fan of The Cowboys, he proudly sported their gear whenever he could. Music was another passion—his playlists featured Jack Johnson and reggae rhythms alongside classics from Jackson 5 and Stevie Wonder.
Mark’s legacy lives on through those who knew him best: his mother Karen Carlson VanVliet and her partner Richie; his father Hugo Cornejo and stepmother Debbie French; his brother Mike Cornejo and sister-in-law Donnalisa; his beloved sons Mitchell and Blake Cornejo; as well as his nieces and a nephew who will carry forward memories of laughter-filled gatherings and shared adventures.
May Mark’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him—and may the spirit of his kindness, humor, and strength continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. Semper Fi.
