Most will remember the 4th of July as the time when our country’s soul was set free from tyranny and oppression. From now on, we also remember this time of year because another soul was set free from this world’s chaos and hardships.
In the wee hours on the night of July 3rd, 2023, Mark Daniel Griffis died in a fluke motorcycle accident. Having just celebrated his 50th birthday, his untimely death could not have come as a bigger shock to his family and friends. We must now move forward with our stories and memories we made with Mark.
Those who knew Mark well would honor him with words such as gregarious and outgoing, a loyal friend, passionate, hard-working, creative, and a talented singer and self-taught drummer. At any given time, he was known to be engaged in a number of mechanical projects which included: truck(s), cars, motorcycle(s) or even the occasional lawnmower in need of repair. He loved his dogs and riding motorcycles, fast cars and big trucks.
Most people who met Mark would remember his engaging charm, witty humor, and his ability to tell stories that would draw you into his well-lived adventurous life. His impact on others will be missed; family and friends are left to cope with the void his absence leaves behind.
He was born May 3rd, 1973 and left us on July 3rd, 2023. He is survived by two sons, Wyatt and Michael, three grandchildren (Milina,Kai and Kinley), Daniel (father) and Jainara (step Momma J) Griffis (Jacksonville, Florida), mother Rebecca Kuhns (Washington state), brothers Jason (South Carolina) and Nathan (Pennsylvania), and sister Chris (Washington state). He was married and divorced twice, first to Kristina with whom he had two sons, and then to Karin Margheim.
