Marne was born on December 10, 1940, and grew up in Clear Lake, Iowa with her parents and two brothers. Marne had an active childhood, was a cheerleader in high school and was crowned Miss Clear Lake in the town's local beauty pageant. After high school Marne went to the University of Iowa where she studied to become a dental hygienist. After graduating she headed west to Denver, Colorado where she met her future husband, William "Bill" Cody. They were married on August 18, 1963 in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Bill and Marne made their home in Morrison, Colorado where they raised their children, along with numerous animals, on a small horse property. Marne was an accomplished equestrian who regularly rode on the Arapaho Hunt, and competed in equestrian jumping and endurance competitions. Marne always had a deep love for her horses and other animals.
After Bill retired from his dental practice in the 1980s, Marne and a friend started a small business. Marne worked as a sales representative and serviced accounts in northern Colorado and Wyoming. She enjoyed the travel and loved being an entrepreneur.
Throughout her lifetime, Marne was very involved in her church. She regularly attended church services, and took part in bible studies. For years she sang in the church choir and a gospel group called "The Love Chapter." Marne's faith has been a foundational part of her life, and she was the definition of someone who walked the walk.
Marne was very devoted to her family. She remained close to her parents and her brothers and their families. Marne made regular visits to her out-of-state grandchildren, and was very involved with her grandchildren who lived close by. She loved being part of the school plays, concerts and sporting events, and always wanted to help out in whatever way she could. She had a giving spirit and always put others first.
Marne's ascension to heaven was preceded by her husband, William Cody; parents Hyle and Melva Lowman; brother Gary; sister Barbara; daughter Susan. She leaves behind her brother Gary’s children, Kimberly, Daryn, Matthew and Joshua; her brother Dennis (Nancy), his children Jill, Emily, Amy and David; daughter Heather (Paul) her children Wil, Caitlin, and Laura son Michael (Michelle) his daughters Taylor and Alyssa; son Christopher. Marne's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who loved her, but we all have wonderful memories of fun times spent with her. She would want us to celebrate the fun we had and continue to laugh together and love each other.
A Celebration of Marne's life will be held at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, Colorado, on Saturday, July 30, 2022, 10:00 am with a reception to follow. Anyone who knew and loved Marne is welcome to attend.
