Marriotte Stedman Lane, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 16, 20016 in Englewood, CO. She was born February 28, 1921, to Emory and Gertrude (Gothard) Stedman in Newfane, NY. Marriotte is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Frank Thomas Lane of Englewood, CO and children Krista of Lexington, MA, and John of Aurora, CO. She is also survived by grandson Joshua Lane of Arvada, CO and great granddaughter Chloe Lane, granddaughter Kendall Linnehan and husband Patrick of Arvada, CO, and many nieces and nephews. Marriotte was a nurturing, loving wife, mother and grandmother. A graduate of National College of Education she taught pre-school and kindergarten and was education director at Head Start in Schenectady, NY. Always open for adventure, the Lanes moved to Brazil for three years in the late '60s, when Frank worked for USAID. In retirement, Frank and Marriotte spent 20 years traveling in their RV throughout the US, Canada and Mexico. A music lover, Marriotte played piano and organ. She was a master at knitting, cross- stitch, needlepoint, sewing and all kinds of crafts. The daughter of a nursery-owner, she loved gardening and trees; she and Frank had a large vegetable garden for many years. Marriotte liked to entertain and was an inventive and accomplished cook. Marriotte was a 47-year resident of Delmar, NY where she and Frank built a mid-century modern Techbuilt home in which they took great pride. The Lanes were long time, active members of the First United Methodist Church in Delmar. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Marriotte will be buried in the family plot in Newfane, NY where the caring professionals at Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY will handle arrangements.
