Martha Davan

Martha Davan (Cates) 79 of Cherry Hills Village, Colorado died Dec. 23, 2010 from long battle with alzheimers disease. Born October 29, 1931 in Covington, Indiana. She was married to Clarence Davan, Jr. in 1952 at the Benson Chapel Methodist Church in Covington, Indiana. Martha worked in the Agricultural Economics Department at Purdue University. Martha was a homemaker who enjoyed artful crafts. Also, she was an outstanding mother and wife. She was an outstanding cook and considered one of the best pie makers anywhere. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, and the mother of Durk Davan (Holly), Aurora, Colo., Doug Davan (Rossie), Centennial, CO, and Cindy Davan Larson, Bennett, CO. Also survived by five grandchildren: Megan Davan, Kelsey Davan, Kory Davan, Zach Larson and Zoey Larson. Martha was the youngest of seven children born to Schuyler D. Cates and Mary Alice Robb of Covington, Indiana and preceded by her parents and siblings Leroy (Bud) Cates, Charles Cates, M. Louise King, Mary E. Salts, those surviving are: Delores High and Harold Cates. Visitation will be 5PM - 7PM Wednesday at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home at 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO, followed by Funeral Service Thursday at 9:30AM. Interment at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:15AM, Staging Area C.
