Martha Dell Lewis passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 84. Martha Dell was a devoted, joyful, and loving wife, mother, and friend. She was a woman whose deep faith caused her to reach out to all who came into her path, caring for many and enriching the lives of all who knew her. She embodied the saying Live well, Love much, Laugh often. With her infectious enthusiasm, she assisted many individuals and ministries in their efforts to know and serve Jesus. Her passing will be mourned not only by her family but by the hundreds of people whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Jerome Lewis, by her son, Josh (Victoria), her daughters Madelynn Winstead (Edwin), and Josi Larson (David), eight grandchildren (Garreth Winstead, Martha Slattery, Maddie Winstead, Spencer Winstead, Blake Larson, Jessie Larson, Tucker Larson, Lizzie Larson) and three great grandchildren (Roisin Slattery, Sean Slattery, Clare Winstead). She was predeceased by her mother, Josephine Shultz, her father, Arthur C. ?Red? Shultz, and recently, her brother Bill Shultz. Martha Dell was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma where she pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma. Following her marriage in June of 1950, she and Jerry relocated from Wichita, Kansas to Colorado in 1954. During her early years in Denver, Martha Dell was an active member of the Denver Junior League where she regularly appeared in plays including Raggedy Ann and The Reluctant Dragon. From the late-sixties to the present, Martha Dell was active in Young Life, as a staff member and Young Life volunteer, on various YL committees, and the YL Foundation. Martha Dell served as a member of the Board of Directors, Westmont College, from 1978-1984. She was an Elder for Cherry Hills Community Church, and a founding member of Greenwood Community Church. She founded The Community Bible Study in Denver. Martha Dell served as an advisor to Petro-Lewis Corporation from 1968 to1986 and co-chaired the Downing Street Foundation from 1986-present. There will be a memorial celebration of Martha Dell's life held at Greenwood Community Church (Belleview and Holly) on Monday, February 24th at 11:00 am with a reception to follow.
