Martha Jean “Marti” Stahmer

Entered into Heaven to be with our Father on May 9, 2021

Marti was born February 23, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois.  She grew up and attended school in Oak Park, IL.  After high school Marti attended Northern Illinois State Teachers College.  She graduated in 1945 with a Bachelors of Science Degree, focusing on home economics education.  After graduating Marti taught home economics for two years in North Brook, IL.  She later earned a certificate in education.

Marti was introduced to her husband Jerry on a blind date.  They married in Oak Park, IL, in 1947.  They had five children: Linda, Rick, Jeffrey, Greg and Julie.  After the children were older Marti went to work for the CSU Extension Office in Arapahoe County until she retired at the age of 62.  In 1988 Jerry and Marti moved to Green Valley, AZ while also owning a condo in Ft. Collins, CO.  They returned to Colorado after 12 years.

Marti has seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Marti enjoyed painting, quilting, bridge and sewing baby blankets for unwed mothers.

Marti was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry.

A private family graveside service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Horan Mortuary, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd. (south of Yale Avenue), Lakewood, CO  80227  with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Martha’s name to Lakewood United Church of Christ, 100 Carr Street, Lakewood, CO  80226.
