In loving memory of Martin John Black, age 71. Martin unexpectedly died at home on Monday May 9th, in Centennial, Colorado due to a head injury from a fall. Contributing cause of death was heart failure, ALS and other health issues he was battling.
He is survived by his wife (Cathy) and two children Shayla and Shane.
Marty was born at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. He was a Lt. in the Navy as a pilot flying the A-6 Intruder off the USS JFK during the Vietnam War. After his military career he worked as a Captain with Continental Airlines retiring after 25yrs.
He will be remembered in the neighborhood as the "go to" guy for keeping a green, manicured yard and helping others do the same. He had a generous heart and was willing to help others when he saw a need.
He had a sarcastic sense of humor, was a great storyteller and loved spending time with his children.
There will be no planned service, the family will spread his ashes in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains on and near their family cabin in Westcliffe.
Please share your memories of Marty and condolences with his family by signing the tribute wall.
