Martin “Marty” Grossberg, 77, passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2021, at his home in Bailey, Colorado. Marty was born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 18, 1944, to Irving and Helen Grossberg.
Marty spent his life in service to others. His first job as a young boy was delivering newspapers on a local paper route. After a term of service in the US Army, he pursued the first of several different careers. Among other ventures, while In New York, Marty owned and operated a greeting card/newspaper/convenience/candy store and a wire stripping and terminating company called Wiretronics. In Colorado, his most recent enterprise was a handyman company called Mr. Fix It Quick, which was just as successful as it was fulfilling for him because he loved to fix things and to be of service to his clients.
At his core, Marty was a helper, a mentor, and a sage. No matter where he was or who he met, he would listen to people and offer words of wisdom that were taken to heart. With Marty’s help, those people were all able to change their lives for the better.
The desire to share this wisdom led Marty to write a book entitled Parent-Child Relationships of which he was very proud. He was most proud, however, of his son Michael and of the relationship they shared. They spent countless hours on the racquetball court, playing chess, enjoying good food, and discussing life, and these were some of Marty’s happiest moments.
Marty will be greatly missed by his family: his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Alisa his sister Evelyn, his ex-wife and lifelong friend Adrienne Cancino, and the many friends whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of Marty’s life will be held at noon on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Mile Hi Church, 9077 West Alameda Avenue, Lakewood, CO, in the Teel Sanctuary. All are invited to attend. COVID precautions (masks and distancing) will be observed. A video of the service will be posted after the event for anyone interested who was unable to attend.
