Marty Hanley

September 6, 1946 — January 23, 2010

Marty Hanley, 63, loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and steadfast friend passed away January 24, 2010 from cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vicki; sons, Shane and Jason; sisters, Irene (Gene) Murphy of Denver, Jerri (Joseph) Zbylski of Castle Rock, Helen (Larry) Wingate of Omaha, Nebraska; brother, Tom Hanley, Louisville, Nebraska; thirteen nieces and nephews and numerous dear and treasured friends. Born in Denver, Marty was a graduate of Regis High School and enlisted in the Marines at seventeen. He served with honor in Vietnam 1967-1968 and was the most decorated Marine in Colorado at that time. After his return to Denver, Marty joined the Denver Police Force where he served with distinction for over twenty years. He received a personal commendation from Mayor Pena for his exceptional service during the DIA construction and opening. The Marine motto ""Semper Fi"" symbolized Marty's life. Fiercely loyal to his family and friends, he marched to his own tune. His personality was Irish and his happiness was sparked by and shared with his wife, Vicki. We are blessed to have known him. A memorial service will be held, 11am, Thursday, January, 28, 2010 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora. An escorted procession will follow to Ft. Logan National Cemetery at 2PM, Pavilion ""A"" for committal services. A reception will follow at 3:30pm at the Eagles Lodge, 1151 S. Galena in Aurora.
