Marvin Louis Brooks was born on September 14, 1943, in Denver, Colorado, to parents of Russian-Jewish descent. His father, Benjamin Brooks, born in Russia on April 7th, 1905, migrated to the USA as a child and lived in New York before the family settled in Denver, Colorado. Marvin's mother, Dorothy (Apple) Brooks, was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 10th, 1914. Marvin was the youngest of three siblings, with two older sisters, Marlynn and Jody Brooks. The family lived near the beautiful Sloan Lake in Denver, Colorado. Marvin's father and uncles owned a men's clothing store called Brooks Brothers Clothing in downtown Denver. After graduating from George Washington High School in 1962, Marvin worked at his father's store.
On May 6th, 1966, Marvin was drafted into the US Army. He trained as a medic at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, and was later stationed overseas in Germany, as well as at Army bases in St. Louis, Missouri, and Ft. Hamilton, New York. Marvin enjoyed the camaraderie of military life and was honorably discharged from the US Army, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal Marksman (Rifle).

Marvin and Diana had two sons, Jeff (born in 1971) and Chad (born in 1980). They were a close-knit family, frequently celebrating various occasions with both the Brooks and Eixenberger families. Marvin and Diana attended family events in Wyoming and South Dakota and often traveled for weddings and other gatherings.
Jeff Brooks spent many years in the US Army, stationed in South Korea and various bases in the United States. Diana and Marvin attended Jeff's wedding in Georgia, and Jeff had two children, Irene Brooks and Matthew Brooks.

They have three children: Braylynn Brooks (10), Dylan Brooks (7), and Caeydynn Brooks (9 months). Chad's wife frequently posts updates on Facebook, which the family greatly appreciates.
Marvin and Diana were close to their neighbors, George and Patricia Gallegos, and raised their children together. After Diana's passing on February 21, 2016, George and Patricia continued to support Marvin.
Marvin enjoyed the mountains and the casino atmosphere, often driving to Black Hawk and Central City. He worked for several years as a blackjack dealer. Marvin loved watching sports and CNN, particularly supporting Denver teams like the Broncos, Nuggets, and Colorado Avalanche. He celebrated their victories, including the Broncos' Super Bowl championships, the Avalanche's Stanley Cup wins, and the Nuggets' first NBA Championship.
