Mary Alice Golden

Mary Alice Golden was born in Rantoul, Illinois 91 years ago to two young and ambitious parents. Her birth was followed, in short order, by her brother, Everett and much later by her other brother, Bill. These siblings have remained close all of their lives. She traveled extensively as her father was in the Air Force. You cannot believe the stories.

She came to Colorado to attend college. While she was visiting someone for her parents, she met the love of her life, Darwin. They married and had three of the most wonderful children ever born, according to her: Diane, Laura and Bill. Much happened in life. Darwin died nine years ago. This tore Mary Alice apart, but did not diminish her spirit.

Mary Alice was a woman full of love and chocolate, with nuts, of course! The only thing she loved more than chocolate was her family. Family first, above all. She was a huge fan of the musical hit "We are Family" by Sister Sledge. She is dancing in heaven to that song.

She was an active participant in helping to raise and mother her grandchildren: Matt, Chad, Liz, Adam, Hannah and Thayer, and from afar Meredith and Jenna; great-grandchildren: Brynne, Joseph, Sophie, Isabella, Benjamin, Logan, Liliana, Jonathan, Vera and last, but not least, Owen. She had such a fondness of children. Pets, not so much, but they were a part of the household.

Mary Alice tried various business ventures, including jewelry making and flower arranging. This brought her much joy. She crafted until she couldn't anymore.

Her life was highlighted with visits from friends and family. She was a friend to many. She was always ready with a word or a smile and willing to help with anything she could.

Mary Alice will be missed by all that knew her and those who didn't.

Love you Mom!
