Mary Jeanne Armstrong Born May 21, 1930 in Ottawa, Illinois, departed August 4, 2017 in Denver, CO. Mary was raised in Ottawa and kept a home there where she spent summers and holidays with her many friends and beloved family members. She attended MacMurray College where she earned a BA in Education. After moving to Colorado in 1956 and continuing her career as a teacher, she received her Masters from CU. A Physical Education teacher, Mary taught in DPS schools until her retirement. Mary enjoyed a wide variety of interests including skiing, snowshoeing, bowling, golfing and was an avid supporter and fan of Hot Air Ballooning, especially in Snowmass, CO where she enjoyed a vacation home. An active resident at Windsor Gardens for the last 18 years, Mary was on the Board of Directors and active in the womenâs golf group for many years. A generous donor, she supported many Denver and Colorado organizations such as Denver Zoo, Museum of Nature and Science, Denver Childrenâs Home and Dumb Friends League. She also supported the Audubon Society and several womenâs organizations . Mary is survived by many loved nieces and nephews and their children in Ottawa, IL and Seattle, WA. Services will be held at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth, Aurora on Wednesday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a reception at Windsor Gardens, 597 S Clinton Street, Denver 80247.
